Audubon and REI Foundation Expand Innovative Nature Education Program

The National Audubon Society and The REI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI, are kicking off the second phase of an innovative collaboration launched last year. The initiative seeks to make hands-on nature experiences engaging and accessible for people of all backgrounds – including residents of underserved communities.  Renewed funding from The REI Foundation will enable Audubon to expand the reach of this program to four new cities.

REI Announces Green Energy Project Grant

REI Adventures, a leader in worldwide guided active adventure programs, announced that a grant of $87,000 has been awarded to Nepal SEEDS, a nonprofit organization focused on improving social, educational and environmental development. The grant, made possible through REI’s partnership with Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), will help fund biogas projects to improve the lives of residents of small villages and communities near where REI Adventures’ Royal Trek trip operates in Nepal.

NatureBridge Awarded REI Foundation's Inaugural Mary Anderson Legacy Grant

The REI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI, awarded its first $50,000 Mary Anderson Legacy Grant to NatureBridge, the largest residential environmental education partner of the National Park Service. Established in recognition of REI co-founder Mary Anderson, the grant will assist NatureBridge's efforts to introduce more children to the natural world.

REI Teams with Local Non-Profit Partners through Launch of Facebook® Deals

REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), a national retailer providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced that it is a participating company in the beta launch of Facebook Deals. Beginning today, for every customer who checks in at an REI store through Facebook Places, the co-op will donate $1 to a selected non-profit in their community, up to $100,000.

REI Foundation Establishes the Mary Anderson Legacy Grant to Celebrate Co-Founder’s 100th Birthday

The REI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI, has established the Mary Anderson Legacy Grant in celebration of the company co-founder’s 100th birthday.  The annual grant will recognize the contributions that Anderson made in the lives of young people during her years as a teacher, over her years of working at REI and through her life-long love of the outdoors.

REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), the national outdoor gear and clothing retail cooperative, today announced that its stores in Round Rock, Texas and Lincoln Park, Ill. have been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification for Commercial Interiors from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

EarthTeam Environmental Network Receives Grant from REI Foundation to Connect Youth to Nature

BERKELEY, CALIF. – EarthTeam Environmental Network today announced a $14,000 grant provided by the REI Foundation, a private foundation supported by the national outdoor gear and apparel retailer Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI).  The grant supports EarthTeam’s Eco-Stewards, an environmental education and restoration program that integrates classroom instruction and hands-on fieldwork with student-created multimedia outreach, including television and an online magazine.
